Grace Children's
Home currently houses 25 orphans and is regularly approached to
take in more. Unfortunately, because of our financial situation
and the condition of our building, we are not able to bring any
more children into the home at this time.
The children
that are living in the home currently are fortunate to be able to
receive schooling each day as well as food each day. This is one
of the reasons that many children have come to the school begging
to be allowed a place at the home.
Below is information
about the daily lives of the children at our orphanage:
| --- |
The children wake at 5:00am to go to morning devotion. |
| --- |
Breakfast is served at 7:00am. |
| --- |
Children who attend elementary school attend school in the village. They eat lunch at the orphanage and then go back to school until 4:00pm. |
| --- |
Children older than elementary school age walk 2 miles to their school. These children take their lunches with them and return from school at 5:00pm. |
| --- |
The children's diet consists mostly of rice. They receive chicken once a week when funds permit. |
| --- |
All the children take a bath before 6:00pm. |
| --- |
After bathtime, there is study and devotion time. |
| --- |
Bedtime is at 8:00pm. |
| --- |
The children sleep on the floor with a mat and a blanket. Up until a recent contribution, not all the children had their own blanket. |
| --- |
There are two cots in the home and presently, these are being used for children that are sick. |
| --- |
Children above 10 years old wash their own clothing. The washing is done by the side of the home in an open bathroom. Water is carried from a nearby tap. It is a public tap so they have to wait until it is their turn to receive water. Our town tap costs extra money. Currently, some church believers are helping wash the clothing of the children who are younger than ten years old. |
